Welcome to Brandbygegaard
I apologize for the quality of this English text
– blame it on the Danish education or my old dictionary – or just on
me. I do my very best, and hope most of the text will make sense to
you. Please send me an e-mail

if you can suggest improvements.

On our little farm we grow food which is an
experience to eat. We are very familiar with the land and know
exactly where the potatoes will develop their best taste, where the
apple trees thrives, where the raspberries gets their full aroma and
where the rucola becomes spicy without bitterness.

There is a fine correlation between soil,
moisture, sun and care. Time and good workmanship are decisive
elements. Taste and flavour must be allowed to develop and harvest
by ripeness is vital for good food.

The supply depends on the season. Next summer I
intend to create a page in English, where you can check out, what is
ripe at the moment. Here in the autumn and winter you will find
potatoes, eggs, apples, leeks, beetroots, curly kale, pumpkins and
parsley. The commodities are sold from the little booth in the
driveway.

The domestic animals are dashing white hens. Here
a hen is allowed to behave like she wants to. Every morning the gate
to the hen run is opened, and there is a race to get the last
insects of the night. The hens are diligent creatures and all day
through, they scratch under the flowerbeds (or eat the flowers)
between the strawberries, under the plum trees etc. No wonder that
they lay big tasteful eggs with a fine yellow yolk.

The farm is a vineyard too – we grow grapes for
red vine and this is one of the northernmost vineyards in Europe. We
just finished the harvest of grapes and the amount of vine is 30 %
larger than last year. During this winter we rebuild and old cow
stable to a small vinery and a café. Will we see you there, when it
opens in the summertime?

Every morning I write about the thrilling life on
a Danish farm in the countryside. I am sorry, but so far it is
written in Danish only. Maybe you can translate it with Google
translation, of maybe you can just enjoy the photos of what is
happening here. Anyhow you are welcome to join – just click at this
